Covid-19 pan­dem­ic: net­work util­i­sa­tion in Ger­many

Many people have been wondering whether the telecommunications networks can withstand the increased internet use caused by people working from home, online education, video streaming and gaming services.

There has been no indication of the networks in Germany becoming overloaded as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic so far. The networks are currently stable. Report on utilisation of telecommunications networks (pdf / 91 KB)

Network operators have also taken all precautionary measures to keep the networks operating as well as possible. If overloading were to occur, operators would be able to take traffic management measures permitted by the net neutrality Regulation.
