Date of issue 2024.09.13
The Bundesnetzagentur has today completed the planning approval procedure for the section of the SuedLink power line running from Großrinderfeld to Bad Friedrichshall. The Bundesnetzagentur had already approved several applications from TransnetBW for an early start to construction work on this section. The planning approval decision now confirms these measures.
Network expansion between Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg
The route corridor that has now been approved is approximately 80 kilometres long. The whole section is in Baden-Württemberg and the lines will be laid underground. The section begins at the boundary between Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg in Großrinderfeld (Main-Tauber district). The route runs southwest through Grünsfeld and Tauberbischofsheim and mostly parallel to the A81 motorway. The route crosses the River Tauber near Distelhausen, part of Tauberbischofsheim, and then runs southwest past Heckfeld, part of Lauda-Königshofen. The route continues southwest, running between Ahorn and Boxberg and then west of Ravenstein (Neckar-Odenwald district) and Schöntal (Hohenlohe district) and north and west of Möckmühl (Heilbronn district). The route crosses the River Jagst west of Züttlingen and the River Kocher north of Oedheim. It then runs south-southwest and to the east of Oedheim. The route then changes direction and runs west to Bad Friedrichshall where it links up with Section E3, for which planning approval was completed in May 2023.
The planning approval decision will be published online at www.netzausbau.de/vorhaben3-e2 (German web page). The date of publication will be announced in advance separately.
Background to SuedLink
The SuedLink power line consists of two direct-current lines. Project 3, as it is referred to, connects Brunsbüttel in Schleswig-Holstein with Großgartach/Leingarten in Baden-Württemberg. Project 4 runs from Wilster to Bergrheinfeld in Bavaria. The two lines will be laid as underground cables and run mostly parallel to each other. TenneT and TransnetBW
