Bundesnetzagentur publishes more up-to-date energy data on SMARD
Year of issue 2024
Date of issue 2024.05.17
From now on, on the SMARD transparency platform, the Bundesnetzagentur will publish comprehensive, additional data on network congestion management, redispatching, countertrading and grid reserves.
"On SMARD from now on we will be publishing extensive data on the costs and amounts for stabilising the electricity grid. By doing this we are contributing towards more transparency in the energy markets,"
said Klaus Müller, President of the Bundesnetzagentur.
The new data are available in high resolution as interactive graphics. All the data will now be updated monthly and thus will be available to the user much earlier than previously. In addition, all the data can be displayed in tables and can be downloaded in various formats. This makes it easier and faster to get an overview and to evaluate the data, as well as enabling direct comparison of individual months. Moreover, users can detect seasonal fluctuations immediately. Users can select seasonal parameters for the ratio of the energy sources used in congestion management, as well as the reserves and countertrading measures used, and can format the data for their own analysis.
There are various reasons that might make it necessary to curtail renewable energy. Interested users can see directly from the diagrams which network level was the cause of the curtailment and the time at which this occurred. Presenting the data like this shows where there is demand for network expansion in Germany even more transparently than before.
In this respect the Bundesnetzagentur has also published an annual report for 2023 on congestion management (in German) at: www.smard.de/energiemarkt-aktuell. More detailed information on congestion management can be found at: www.smard.de/energiedaten-kompakt.
