The Bundesnetzagentur is holding a market dialogue on digitalisation in the railway sector in Bonn today.

"A large number of planning and operational processes in the railway sector are to be digitalised and improved. This is the outcome of various regulatory procedures and the basic assumption of the planned EU capacity regulation. We want to find out which requirements regulation sets and what is desirable from the viewpoint of providers and users. We also want to discuss which technical innovations are feasible," said Dr Wilhelm Eschweiler, Vice President of the Bundesnetzagentur.

The market dialogue is for representatives of railway infrastructure managers, railway undertakings, associations, authorities and other interested stakeholders. The event provides the opportunity for multidisciplinary and practice-focused discussions and contributions.

The morning sessions will focus on the digital management of infrastructure and include presentations on use in (construction) timetabling and communications with access beneficiaries and on use in operations and dispatching.

There will be a panel discussion in the early afternoon on expectations, challenges, framework conditions, economic viability and timescales, in terms of both operations and regulatory policy.

Further information about the market dialogue is available on the Bundesnetzagentur's website at www.bnetza.de/marktdialog (in German).
