The Bundesnetzagentur has commissioned a study of competitive conditions in the mobile market in conjunction with the provision of spectrum.

"Promoting competition is a key aim of spectrum regulation. We are therefore making an objective and forward-looking assessment of the competitive conditions before providing spectrum," said Klaus Müller, President of the Bundesnetzagentur.

The Bundesnetzagentur has commissioned consultants WIK-Consult GmbH and Ernst & Young GmbH to draw up a report into competitive conditions in the mobile market.

Examination of possible measures as a next step

One of the next steps in the provision of spectrum at 800 MHz, 1 800 MHz and 2 600 MHz will be to see whether measures are needed to maintain or achieve effective competition in Germany's mobile market, taking into account the conclusions of the report.

The consultants are due to begin their surveys of the market soon. Any market players interested in contributing to the study of competitive conditions can also contact WIK-Consult GmbH or the Bundesnetzagentur direct.
The report from the study will be presented to the Bundesnetzagentur this autumn.
