Satel­lite com­mu­ni­ca­tions

Satellite-based radio applications are vital for European and global communications, navigation, radiodetermination and broadcasting. The Bundesnetzagentur participates in the work of ETSI SES in developing specifications and standards to define the radio frequency and network interfaces and the protocols implemented in fixed and mobile earth stations. Particular attention is being given to the creation of harmonised standards in response to the European Commission's Mandate M/536 and the anticipated standardisation activities for the Galileo European satellite navigation system. The aim is to shape the standardisation process in line with the legal mandate to guarantee efficient and interference-free frequency usage, technology neutrality and interoperability.
