ITS

The standardisation process for intelligent transport systems (ITS) includes developing and implementing communication services and corresponding system requirements as regards data protection, security, radio interfaces, and transport and network layers for traffic-related data. The aim is to optimise the organisation, information and management of traffic using new information and communication technologies. Dedicated short-range communications (DSRC) is one such technology and can be used in vehicles for collision warnings, traffic alerts or road toll systems.
