Professional mobile radio

Professional mobile radio (PMR) systems are most commonly used for communication within a closed user group by, for instance, public-law institutions, companies, businesses, clubs and associations. PMR systems are also used for paging, telecontrol and non-navigational radiodetermination. PMR will continue to provide an inexpensive alternative to licensed, long-distance mobile radio in the future through full migration from analogue to digital technologies. Standardised digital PMR (dPMR) systems will, amongst other things, offer improved data transmission in addition to voice communication.
