National Signalling Point Codes

National Signalling Point Codes (NSPCs) are needed by operators of telecoms systems (as defined in Section 3 subparagraph 17 of the Telecommunications Act) who plan to establish Signalling System No 7 (SS No 7) signalling relations in the intermediate signalling network with other telecoms system operators.

The intermediate signalling network is a national signalling network.

Eligible to apply are

  • holders of a Class 1, 2 or 4 licence (Section 6(2) subparagraphs 1(a), 1(b) and 2 of the Act) – or other persons operating, or planning to operate, a telecoms system with a switching or switching-supporting function –

    who

  • plan to establish signalling relations in the intermediate signalling network with other operators.

Only one NSPC is allocated for each SS No 7 signalling point. If an operator has more than one signalling point at a location, an NSPC is normally allocated for one point only.

A fee is payable for each NSPC allocated.

The Allocation Rules were published in the BMPT's Official Gazette 2/1997 (Administrative Order 22/1997).
