115 Sin­gle Gov­ern­ment Ser­vice Tele­phone Num­ber

Under this phone number, a quick and uncomplicated first contact with the services of the entire public administration in Germany is possible. Many common, recurring concerns are expected to be dealt with immediately. More complex questions will be forwarded to the responsible unit. The standardised government service telephone number 115 is assigned to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community (Bundesministerium des Innern, für Bau und Heimat). It is provided in all 5200 local area networks as well as in the telephone number range (0)32. A selection from other number ranges is possible by prefixing a local area code. The rate equals that of a call in the local area network. In order to realize international and mobile accessibility the number (0)115 and the mobile short code 115 are also provided.

Waiting queues may be used. The number 115 has been considered equivalent to the fixed telephone numbers in regard to the use of waiting queues.
