From 14 June until 14 July 2024

Logo der EURO2024

Germany will be hosting the UEFA European Championship in 2024 (UEFA EURO 2024™).

The matches will take place at ten different venues in June and July 2024. The international broadcast centre (IBC) will be located at the Leipziger Messe and there will be special events for fans in the ten EURO 2024 host cities. A simplified procedure is in place for assigning spectrum for planned short-term use: short-term assignments

There will be a dedicated team of staff for each of the ten match venues and the IBC in Leipzig who will be responsible for providing spectrum and for monitoring spectrum use to make sure there is no interference.

The Bundesnetzagentur will have an office at each of the ten venues that will be staffed for the matches (MD-2 to MD). Our staff will be available on site to help with any questions about spectrum use.

We will also have an office at the IBC at the Leipziger Messe that will be staffed every day from 9 June until 14 July 2024.

Applications for the assignment of spectrum for short-term use in connection with UEFA EURO 2024™ should be made using the official forms and sent preferably by email to the following address:

Notification of spectrum use at the ten match venues, the Brandenburger-Gate-Studios and the IBC in Leipzig

To ensure effective and interference-free spectrum use during the matches at the ten match venues and at the IBC in Leipzig, the Bundesnetzagentur should be notified of any planned use of spectrum under an existing assignment or a Allgemeinzuteilung (general assignment, in German) (see also the Bundesnetzagentur's "green list" – BNetzAGreenList_D_E_221115 (pdf / 100 KB)).

This applies to any plans to use spectrum within a radius of one kilometre of any of the ten match venues or the IBC in Leipzig in the period from 1 June 2024 to 14 July 2024.

To notify the Bundesnetzagentur, please use the following forms and remember to give the current assignment number:

Form for Brandenburger-Gate-Studios and the IBC

Please note:
Applications should include exact details of the matches at which it is planned to use the spectrum.
A separate application is needed for each match venue.

Notifications should be submitted no earlier than 1 February 2024 and no later than 1 May 2024. Notifications received after this date will be given lower priority. It might not be possible to respond to late notifications before the start of an event.

Help with choosing spectrum

It is not possible to assign spectrum from certain bands for short-term use. A list of these bands is available here:
BNetzARedList_D_E_221115 (pdf / 54 KB)

Some spectrum can be used under a general assignment without the need for a separate assignment, but use of the spectrum needs to be notified to the Bundesnetzagentur. A list of this spectrum is available here:
BNetzAGreenList_D_E_221115 (pdf / 100 KB)

Inspection of equipment

The Bundesnetzagentur will inspect all equipment used under a general/individual/short-term assignment at the venues and press centres and in the immediate vicinity (approximately one kilometre) and will give stickers to equipment that passes inspection.

Any equipment that is not in proper technical condition or for which no (short-term, individual or general) assignment has been granted will not be given a sticker and will not be able to be operated. The inspections will be carried out by representatives of the Bundesnetzagentur, who are available at the press centres, broadcast compounds and media centres.

Spectrum assignment fees

Fees are charged for assigning spectrum and, under certain conditions, for rejecting applications. The fees are calculated in accordance with the applicable version of the Bundesnetzagentur's special ordinance on fees for spectrum assignments (BNetzA BGebV FreqZut). Under the Telecommunications Act (TKG) in conjunction with the current version of the Bundesnetzagentur's special ordinance, the fee for the temporary use of spectrum (up to 30 days) is €30. Attention is drawn to the fact that the assignment fees for applications that the Bundesnetzagentur receives less than 15 days before the first day of use (based on the receipt stamp for postal applications and the date of receipt in the central email inbox for email applications) are higher, the later the applications are received. Further information can be found in the Bundesnetzagentur's special ordinance and in the administrative rules for short-term assignments (VVKuNz).

Assignment holders must also pay annual contributions. These contributions are calculated in accordance with the applicable version of the Frequency Protection Contributions Ordinance (FSBeitrV).
Short-term assignments are not currently subject to contributions under the ordinance.
The file below can be used to calculate the approximate fees payable.

Please note that the fees calculated using the file are estimates. The exact fees can only be calculated on the basis of the data provided in an application and the actual short-term spectrum assignment granted.
